New King James Version | Holman Christian Standard Bible |
To the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. | 1For the choir director: according to Jeduthun. A Davidic psalm. I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. |
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved. | 2He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will never be shaken. |
How long will you attack a man? You shall be slain, all of you, Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence. | 3How long will you threaten a man? Will all of you attack as if he were a leaning wall or a tottering stone fence? |
They only consult to cast him down from his high position; They delight in lies; They bless with their mouth, But they curse inwardly. Selah | 4They only plan to bring him down from his high position. They take pleasure in lying; they bless with their mouths, but they curse inwardly. Selah |
My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. | 5Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from Him. |
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. | 6He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken. |
In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. | 7My salvation and glory depend on God, my strong rock. My refuge is in God. |
Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah | 8Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge. Selah |
Surely men of low degree are a vapor, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales, They are altogether lighter than vapor. | 9Men are only a vapor; exalted men, an illusion. Weighed in the scales, they go up; together they are less than a vapor. |
Do not trust in oppression, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them. | 10Place no trust in oppression, or false hope in robbery. If wealth increases, pay no attention to it. |
God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God. | 11God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: strength belongs to God, |
Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work. | 12and faithful love belongs to You, LORD. For You repay each according to his works. |
