To the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. | 1For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David. Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. |
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved. | 2Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. |
How long will you attack a man? You shall be slain, all of you, Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence. | 3How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down-- this leaning wall, this tottering fence? |
They only consult to cast him down from his high position; They delight in lies; They bless with their mouth, But they curse inwardly. Selah | 4Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse. |
My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. | 5Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. |
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. | 6Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. |
In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. | 7My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. |
Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah | 8Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. |
Surely men of low degree are a vapor, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales, They are altogether lighter than vapor. | 9Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath. |
Do not trust in oppression, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them. | 10Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them. |
God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God. | 11One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: "Power belongs to you, God, |
Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work. | 12and with you, Lord, is unfailing love"; and, "You reward everyone according to what they have done." |
