New King James Version | Holman Christian Standard Bible |
To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. On an eight-stringed harp. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure. | 1For the choir director: with stringed instruments, according to Sheminith. A Davidic psalm. LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger; do not discipline me in Your wrath. |
Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled. | 2Be gracious to me, LORD, for I am weak; heal me, LORD, for my bones are shaking; |
My soul also is greatly troubled; But You, O LORD—how long? | 3my whole being is shaken with terror. And You, LORD--how long? |
Return, O LORD, deliver me! Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake! | 4Turn, LORD! Rescue me; save me because of Your faithful love. |
For in death there is no remembrance of You; In the grave who will give You thanks? | 5For there is no remembrance of You in death; who can thank You in Sheol? |
I am weary with my groaning; All night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. | 6I am weary from my groaning; with my tears I dampen my pillow and drench my bed every night. |
My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies. | 7My eyes are swollen from grief; they grow old because of all my enemies. |
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping. | 8Depart from me, all evildoers, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping. |
The LORD has heard my supplication; The LORD will receive my prayer. | 9The LORD has heard my plea for help; the LORD accepts my prayer. |
Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled; Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly. | 10All my enemies will be ashamed and shake with terror; they will turn back and suddenly be disgraced. |
