New International Version | New American Standard Bible 1995 |
A maskil of David. When he was in the cave. A prayer. I cry aloud to the LORD; I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy. | 1Maskil of David, when he was in the cave. A Prayer. I cry aloud with my voice to the LORD; I make supplication with my voice to the LORD. |
I pour out before him my complaint; before him I tell my trouble. | 2I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare my trouble before Him. |
When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who watch over my way. In the path where I walk people have hidden a snare for me. | 3When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, You knew my path. In the way where I walk They have hidden a trap for me. |
Look and see, there is no one at my right hand; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge; no one cares for my life. | 4Look to the right and see; For there is no one who regards me; There is no escape for me; No one cares for my soul. |
I cry to you, LORD; I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living." | 5I cried out to You, O LORD; I said, "You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living. |
Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need; rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me. | 6"Give heed to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are too strong for me. |
Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name. Then the righteous will gather about me because of your goodness to me. | 7"Bring my soul out of prison, So that I may give thanks to Your name; The righteous will surround me, For You will deal bountifully with me." |
