NET BibleNew Living Translation
For the music director; by the Korahites; according to the alamoth style; a song. God is our strong refuge; he is truly our helper in times of trouble. 1God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
For this reason we do not fear when the earth shakes, and the mountains tumble into the depths of the sea, 2So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.
when its waves crash and foam, and the mountains shake before the surging sea. (Selah) 3Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! Interlude
The river's channels bring joy to the city of God, the special, holy dwelling place of the sovereign One. 4A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High.
God lives within it, it cannot be moved. God rescues it at the break of dawn. 5God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed. From the very break of day, God will protect it.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms are overthrown. God gives a shout, the earth dissolves. 6The nations are in chaos, and their kingdoms crumble! God’s voice thunders, and the earth melts!
The LORD who commands armies is on our side! The God of Jacob is our protector! (Selah) 7The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Interlude
Come! Witness the exploits of the LORD, who brings devastation to the earth! 8Come, see the glorious works of the LORD: See how he brings destruction upon the world.
He brings an end to wars throughout the earth; he shatters the bow and breaks the spear; he burns the shields with fire. 9He causes wars to end throughout the earth. He breaks the bow and snaps the spear; he burns the shields with fire.
He says, "Stop your striving and recognize that I am God! I will be exalted over the nations! I will be exalted over the earth!" 10“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
The LORD who commands armies is on our side! The God of Jacob is our protector! (Selah) 11The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Interlude
