2He lives in Salem; he dwells in Zion. | 2His tabernacle is in Salem; His dwelling place also is in Zion. |
3There he shattered the arrows, the shield, the sword, and the rest of the weapons of war. (Selah) | 3There He broke the flaming arrows, The shield and the sword and the weapons of war. Selah. |
4You shine brightly and reveal your majesty, as you descend from the hills where you killed your prey. | 4You are resplendent, More majestic than the mountains of prey. |
5The bravehearted were plundered; they "fell asleep." All the warriors were helpless. | 5The stouthearted were plundered, They sank into sleep; And none of the warriors could use his hands. |
6At the sound of your battle cry, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse "fell asleep." | 6At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob, Both rider and horse were cast into a dead sleep. |
7You are awesome! Yes, you! Who can withstand your intense anger? | 7You, even You, are to be feared; And who may stand in Your presence when once You are angry? |
8From heaven you announced what their punishment would be. The earth was afraid and silent | 8You caused judgment to be heard from heaven; The earth feared and was still |
9when God arose to execute judgment, and to deliver all the oppressed of the earth. (Selah) | 9When God arose to judgment, To save all the humble of the earth. Selah. |
10Certainly your angry judgment upon men will bring you praise; you reveal your anger in full measure. | 10For the wrath of man shall praise You; With a remnant of wrath You will gird Yourself. |
11Make vows to the LORD your God and repay them! Let all those who surround him bring tribute to the awesome one! | 11Make vows to the LORD your God and fulfill them; Let all who are around Him bring gifts to Him who is to be feared. |
12He humbles princes; the kings of the earth regard him as awesome. | 12He will cut off the spirit of princes; He is feared by the kings of the earth. |
