NET Bible | International Standard Version |
For the music director; written by the LORD's servant, David; an oracle. An evil man is rebellious to the core. He does not fear God, | 1An oracle that came to me about the transgressions of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes. |
for he is too proud to recognize and give up his sin. | 2He flatters himself too much to discover his transgression and hate it. |
The words he speaks are sinful and deceitful; he does not care about doing what is wise and right. | 3The words from his mouth are vain and deceptive. He has abandoned behaving wisely and doing good. |
He plans ways to sin while he lies in bed; he is committed to a sinful lifestyle; he does not reject what is evil. | 4He devises iniquity on his bed and is determined to follow a path that is not good. He does not resist evil. |
O LORD, your loyal love reaches to the sky; your faithfulness to the clouds. | 5Your gracious love, LORD, reaches to the heavens; your truth extends to the skies. |
Your justice is like the highest mountains, your fairness like the deepest sea; you preserve mankind and the animal kingdom. | 6Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your justice is like the great depths of the sea. You deliver both people and animals, LORD. |
How precious is your loyal love, O God! The human race finds shelter under your wings. | 7How precious is your gracious love, God! The children of men take refuge in the shadow of your wings. |
They are filled with food from your house, and you allow them to drink from the river of your delicacies. | 8They are refreshed from the abundance of your house; You cause them to drink from the river of your pleasures. |
For you are the one who gives and sustains life. | 9For with you is a fountain of life, and in your light we will see light. |
Extend your loyal love to your faithful followers, and vindicate the morally upright! | 10Send forth your gracious love to those who know you, and your righteousness to those who are upright in heart. |
Do not let arrogant men overtake me, or let evil men make me homeless! | 11Do not let the foot of the proud crush me; and do not let the hand of the wicked dissuade me. |
I can see the evildoers! They have fallen! They have been knocked down and are unable to get up! | 12There, those who do evil have fallen; They have been thrown down, and they cannot get up. |
