New American Standard Bible 1995 | New Living Translation |
For the choir director; with stringed instruments, upon an eight-string lyre. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your wrath. | 1O LORD, don’t rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your rage. |
Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am pining away; Heal me, O LORD, for my bones are dismayed. | 2Have compassion on me, LORD, for I am weak. Heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony. |
And my soul is greatly dismayed; But You, O LORD-- how long? | 3I am sick at heart. How long, O LORD, until you restore me? |
Return, O LORD, rescue my soul; Save me because of Your lovingkindness. | 4Return, O LORD, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love. |
For there is no mention of You in death; In Sheol who will give You thanks? | 5For the dead do not remember you. Who can praise you from the grave? |
I am weary with my sighing; Every night I make my bed swim, I dissolve my couch with my tears. | 6I am worn out from sobbing. All night I flood my bed with weeping, drenching it with my tears. |
My eye has wasted away with grief; It has become old because of all my adversaries. | 7My vision is blurred by grief; my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies. |
Depart from me, all you who do iniquity, For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping. | 8Go away, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping. |
The LORD has heard my supplication, The LORD receives my prayer. | 9The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD will answer my prayer. |
All my enemies will be ashamed and greatly dismayed; They shall turn back, they will suddenly be ashamed. | 10May all my enemies be disgraced and terrified. May they suddenly turn back in shame. |
