Psalm 132
NASB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995New Living Translation
A Song of Ascents. Remember, O LORD, on David's behalf, All his affliction;1LORD, remember David and all that he suffered.
How he swore to the LORD And vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob,2He made a solemn promise to the LORD. He vowed to the Mighty One of Israel,
"Surely I will not enter my house, Nor lie on my bed;3“I will not go home; I will not let myself rest.
I will not give sleep to my eyes Or slumber to my eyelids,4I will not let my eyes sleep nor close my eyelids in slumber
Until I find a place for the LORD, A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob."5until I find a place to build a house for the LORD, a sanctuary for the Mighty One of Israel.”
Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah, We found it in the field of Jaar.6We heard that the Ark was in Ephrathah; then we found it in the distant countryside of Jaar.
Let us go into His dwelling place; Let us worship at His footstool.7Let us go to the sanctuary of the LORD; let us worship at the footstool of his throne.
Arise, O LORD, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength.8Arise, O LORD, and enter your resting place, along with the Ark, the symbol of your power.
Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, And let Your godly ones sing for joy.9May your priests be clothed in godliness; may your loyal servants sing for joy.
For the sake of David Your servant, Do not turn away the face of Your anointed.10For the sake of your servant David, do not reject the king you have anointed.
The LORD has sworn to David A truth from which He will not turn back: "Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne.11The LORD swore an oath to David with a promise he will never take back: “I will place one of your descendants on your throne.
"If your sons will keep My covenant And My testimony which I will teach them, Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forever."12If your descendants obey the terms of my covenant and the laws that I teach them, then your royal line will continue forever and ever.”
For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation.13For the LORD has chosen Jerusalem ; he has desired it for his home.
"This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.14“This is my resting place forever,” he said. “I will live here, for this is the home I desired.
"I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her needy with bread.15I will bless this city and make it prosperous; I will satisfy its poor with food.
"Her priests also I will clothe with salvation, And her godly ones will sing aloud for joy.16I will clothe its priests with godliness; its faithful servants will sing for joy.
"There I will cause the horn of David to spring forth; I have prepared a lamp for Mine anointed.17Here I will increase the power of David; my anointed one will be a light for my people.
"His enemies I will clothe with shame, But upon himself his crown shall shine."18I will clothe his enemies with shame, but he will be a glorious king.”
