Job 37
NASB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995New Living Translation
"At this also my heart trembles, And leaps from its place.1“My heart pounds as I think of this. It trembles within me.
"Listen closely to the thunder of His voice, And the rumbling that goes out from His mouth.2Listen carefully to the thunder of God’s voice as it rolls from his mouth.
"Under the whole heaven He lets it loose, And His lightning to the ends of the earth.3It rolls across the heavens, and his lightning flashes in every direction.
"After it, a voice roars; He thunders with His majestic voice, And He does not restrain the lightnings when His voice is heard.4Then comes the roaring of the thunder— the tremendous voice of his majesty. He does not restrain it when he speaks.
"God thunders with His voice wondrously, Doing great things which we cannot comprehend.5God’s voice is glorious in the thunder. We can’t even imagine the greatness of his power.
"For to the snow He says, 'Fall on the earth,' And to the downpour and the rain, 'Be strong.'6“He directs the snow to fall on the earth and tells the rain to pour down.
"He seals the hand of every man, That all men may know His work.7Then everyone stops working so they can watch his power.
"Then the beast goes into its lair And remains in its den.8The wild animals take cover and stay inside their dens.
"Out of the south comes the storm, And out of the north the cold.9The stormy wind comes from its chamber, and the driving winds bring the cold.
"From the breath of God ice is made, And the expanse of the waters is frozen.10God’s breath sends the ice, freezing wide expanses of water.
"Also with moisture He loads the thick cloud; He disperses the cloud of His lightning.11He loads the clouds with moisture, and they flash with his lightning.
"It changes direction, turning around by His guidance, That it may do whatever He commands it On the face of the inhabited earth.12The clouds churn about at his direction. They do whatever he commands throughout the earth.
"Whether for correction, or for His world, Or for lovingkindness, He causes it to happen.13He makes these things happen either to punish people or to show his unfailing love.
"Listen to this, O Job, Stand and consider the wonders of God.14“Pay attention to this, Job. Stop and consider the wonderful miracles of God!
"Do you know how God establishes them, And makes the lightning of His cloud to shine?15Do you know how God controls the storm and causes the lightning to flash from his clouds?
"Do you know about the layers of the thick clouds, The wonders of one perfect in knowledge,16Do you understand how he moves the clouds with wonderful perfection and skill?
You whose garments are hot, When the land is still because of the south wind?17When you are sweltering in your clothes and the south wind dies down and everything is still,
"Can you, with Him, spread out the skies, Strong as a molten mirror?18he makes the skies reflect the heat like a bronze mirror. Can you do that?
"Teach us what we shall say to Him; We cannot arrange our case because of darkness.19“So teach the rest of us what to say to God. We are too ignorant to make our own arguments.
"Shall it be told Him that I would speak? Or should a man say that he would be swallowed up?20Should God be notified that I want to speak? Can people even speak when they are confused?
"Now men do not see the light which is bright in the skies; But the wind has passed and cleared them.21We cannot look at the sun, for it shines brightly in the sky when the wind clears away the clouds.
"Out of the north comes golden splendor; Around God is awesome majesty.22So also, golden splendor comes from the mountain of God. He is clothed in dazzling splendor.
"The Almighty-- we cannot find Him; He is exalted in power And He will not do violence to justice and abundant righteousness.23We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty; but even though he is just and righteous, he does not destroy us.
"Therefore men fear Him; He does not regard any who are wise of heart."24No wonder people everywhere fear him. All who are wise show him reverence. ”
