Titus 2
NASB Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New American Standard Bible 1995New International Version
But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.1You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.
Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance.2Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good,3Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,4Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children,
to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.5to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
Likewise urge the young men to be sensible;6Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.
in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified,7In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness
sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.8and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
Urge bondslaves to be subject to their own masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not argumentative,9Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them,
not pilfering, but showing all good faith so that they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect.10and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,11For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age,12It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,
looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,13while we wait for the blessed hope--the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,
who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.14who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.15These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
