For the choir director. A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD. Transgression speaks to the ungodly within his heart; There is no fear of God before his eyes. | 1Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes. |
For it flatters him in his own eyes Concerning the discovery of his iniquity and the hatred of it. | 2For he flatters himself in his own eyes that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated. |
The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and to do good. | 3The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit; he has ceased to act wisely and do good. |
He plans wickedness upon his bed; He sets himself on a path that is not good; He does not despise evil. | 4He plots trouble while on his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not reject evil. |
Your lovingkindness, O LORD, extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. | 5Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. |
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; Your judgments are like a great deep. O LORD, You preserve man and beast. | 6Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast you save, O LORD. |
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. | 7How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. |
They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; And You give them to drink of the river of Your delights. | 8They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. |
For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light. | 9For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. |
O continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You, And Your righteousness to the upright in heart. | 10Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your righteousness to the upright of heart! |
Let not the foot of pride come upon me, And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away. | 11Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away. |
There the doers of iniquity have fallen; They have been thrust down and cannot rise. | 12There the evildoers lie fallen; they are thrust down, unable to rise. |
