Psalm 16
KJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew Living Translation
1Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.1Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge.
2O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;2I said to the LORD, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.”
3But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.3The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them!
4Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.4Troubles multiply for those who chase after other gods. I will not take part in their sacrifices of blood or even speak the names of their gods.
5The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.5LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.
6The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.6The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!
7I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.7I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me.
8I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.8I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
9Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.9No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety.
10For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.10For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave.
11Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.11You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.
