To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? | 1For the choir director. A Davidic psalm. LORD, how long will You forget me? Forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? |
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? | 2How long will I store up anxious concerns within me, agony in my mind every day? How long will my enemy dominate me? |
Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; | 3Consider me and answer, LORD my God. Restore brightness to my eyes; otherwise, I will sleep in death. |
Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. | 4My enemy will say, "I have triumphed over him," and my foes will rejoice because I am shaken. |
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. | 5But I have trusted in Your faithful love; my heart will rejoice in Your deliverance. |
I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me. | 6I will sing to the LORD because He has treated me generously. |
