To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?1For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?2How long must I wrestle in my soul, with sorrow in my heart each day? How long will my enemy dominate me?
Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;3Consider me and respond, O LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death,
Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.4lest my enemy say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes rejoice when I fall.
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.5But I have trusted in Your loving devotion; my heart will rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.6I will sing to the LORD, for He has been good to me.
