| 2When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. | 2When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan. |
| 3Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance. | 3He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth. |
