Leviticus 24
ISV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNew Living Translation
The LORD spoke to Moses, 1The LORD said to Moses,
"Tell the Israelis that they are to bring to you pure oil made from beaten olives in order to keep the lamp burning continuously. 2“Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to keep the lamps burning continually.
Outside the Canopy of the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting, Aaron is to arrange it continually in the LORD's presence from evening until morning as an eternal ordinance throughout your generations. 3This is the lampstand that stands in the Tabernacle, in front of the inner curtain that shields the Ark of the Covenant. Aaron must keep the lamps burning in the LORD’s presence all night. This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed from generation to generation.
He is to arrange the lamps so that they burn continuously on a ceremonially pure lamp stand in the LORD's presence. 4Aaron and the priests must tend the lamps on the pure gold lampstand continually in the LORD’s presence.
Take fine flour and bake twelve cakes using two tenths of a measure for each cake. 5“You must bake twelve flat loaves of bread from choice flour, using four quarts of flour for each loaf.
Arrange them in two rows—six in each row—on a ceremonially pure table in the LORD's presence. 6Place the bread before the LORD on the pure gold table, and arrange the loaves in two stacks, with six loaves in each stack.
Put pure frankincense on each row for a memorial offering. It will serve as an offering made by fire to the LORD. 7Put some pure frankincense near each stack to serve as a representative offering, a special gift presented to the LORD.
They are to be arranged every Sabbath day in the LORD's presence as a gift from the Israelis—an eternal covenant. 8Every Sabbath day this bread must be laid out before the LORD as a gift from the Israelites; it is an ongoing expression of the eternal covenant.
This gift will belong to Aaron and his sons, and they are to eat it in a sacred place, because it's the most holy thing for him of all the offerings made by fire to the LORD. This is to be an eternal ordinance."9The loaves of bread will belong to Aaron and his descendants, who must eat them in a sacred place, for they are most holy. It is the permanent right of the priests to claim this portion of the special gifts presented to the LORD.” An Example of Just Punishment
Now a son of an Israeli woman and an Egyptian man went out among the Israelis. The Israeli woman's son got into a fight with an Israeli man in the camp. 10One day a man who had an Israelite mother and an Egyptian father came out of his tent and got into a fight with one of the Israelite men.
Then the Israeli woman's son blasphemed the Name and cursed, so they brought him to Moses. His mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, from the tribe of Dan. 11During the fight, this son of an Israelite woman blasphemed the Name of the LORD with a curse. So the man was brought to Moses for judgment. His mother was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri of the tribe of Dan.
They placed him in custody until a decision would be made to them according to the word of the LORD. 12They kept the man in custody until the LORD’s will in the matter should become clear to them.
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, 13Then the LORD said to Moses,
"Take the one who cursed outside the camp. Everyone who heard him is to lay their hands on his head. Then the entire congregation is to stone him to death. 14“Take the blasphemer outside the camp, and tell all those who heard the curse to lay their hands on his head. Then let the entire community stone him to death.
Moreover, tell the Israelis that anyone who curses his God will bear the consequences of his own sin, 15Say to the people of Israel: Those who curse their God will be punished for their sin.
because the one who blasphemes the name of the LORD is certainly to be put to death. The entire congregation is to stone him to death. As it is for the resident alien, so it is to be with the native born: when he blasphemes the Name, he is to be put to death.16Anyone who blasphemes the Name of the LORD must be stoned to death by the whole community of Israel. Any native-born Israelite or foreigner among you who blasphemes the Name of the LORD must be put to death.
"If a man beats a human being to death, he is certainly to be executed, 17“Anyone who takes another person’s life must be put to death.
but whoever beats an animal to death is to replace it—life for life. 18“Anyone who kills another person’s animal must pay for it in full—a live animal for the animal that was killed.
If a man disfigures his fellow, whatever he did is to be done to him also. 19“Anyone who injures another person must be dealt with according to the injury inflicted—
Fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth—just as he had caused a disfigurement against another man, so it is to be done against him. 20a fracture for a fracture, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Whatever anyone does to injure another person must be paid back in kind.
Whoever beats an animal to death is to replace it, but whoever beats a human being to death is to be put to death. 21“Whoever kills an animal must pay for it in full, but whoever kills another person must be put to death.
You are to have for yourselves consistent procedures in deciding a case. As it is for the resident alien, so it is for the native born. I am the LORD your God."22“This same standard applies both to native-born Israelites and to the foreigners living among you. I am the LORD your God.”
So Moses spoke to the Israelis and they brought the one who cursed outside the camp and stoned him to death with boulders. The Israelis did just as the LORD had commanded Moses.23After Moses gave all these instructions to the Israelites, they took the blasphemer outside the camp and stoned him to death. The Israelites did just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
