Psalm 9
ISV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionNew International Version
I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart, I will declare all your wonderful deeds.1For the director of music. To the tune of "The Death of the Son." A psalm of David. I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praises to your name, Most High!2I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.
When my enemies turn back, they will stumble and perish before you.3My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you.
For you have brought about justice for me and my cause; you sit on the throne judging righteously.4For you have upheld my right and my cause, sitting enthroned as the righteous judge.
You rebuked the nations, you destroyed the wicked, you wiped out their name forever and ever.5You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have blotted out their name for ever and ever.
The enemy has perished, reduced to ruins forever. You uprooted their cities, the very memory of them vanished.6Endless ruin has overtaken my enemies, you have uprooted their cities; even the memory of them has perished.
But the LORD sits on his throne forever; his throne is established for judgment.7The LORD reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgment.
He will judge the world righteously and make just decisions for the people.8He rules the world in righteousness and judges the peoples with equity.
The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of distress.9The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
Those who know your name will trust you, for you have not forsaken those who seek you, LORD.10Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Sing praises to the LORD who dwells in Zion; declare his mighty deeds among the peoples.11Sing the praises of the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done.
As an avenger of blood, he remembers them; he has not forgotten the cry of the afflicted.12For he who avenges blood remembers; he does not ignore the cries of the afflicted.
Be gracious to me, LORD, take note of my affliction, because of those who hate me. You snatch me away from the gates of death,13LORD, see how my enemies persecute me! Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death,
so I may declare everything for which you should be praised in the gates of the daughter of Zion, so I will rejoice in your deliverance.14that I may declare your praises in the gates of Daughter Zion, and there rejoice in your salvation.
The nations have sunk down into the pit they made, their feet are ensnared in the trap they set.15The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.
The LORD has made himself known, executing judgment. The wicked are ensnared by what their hands have made. Interlude 16The LORD is known by his acts of justice; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.
The wicked will turn back to where the dead are — all the nations that have forgotten God.17The wicked go down to the realm of the dead, all the nations that forget God.
For he will not always overlook the plight of the poor, nor will the hope of the afflicted perish forever.18But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish.
Rise up, LORD, do not let man prevail! The nations will be judged in your presence.19Arise, LORD, do not let mortals triumph; let the nations be judged in your presence.
Make them afraid, LORD, Let the nations know that they are only human. Interlude20Strike them with terror, LORD; let the nations know they are only mortal.
