Colossians 3
ISV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
International Standard VersionEnglish Standard Version
Therefore, if you have been raised with the Messiah, keep focusing on the things that are above, where the Messiah is seated at the right hand of God. 1If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Keep your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth. 2Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
For you have died, and your life has been safely guarded by the Messiah in God. 3For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When the Messiah, who is your life, is revealed, then you, too, will be revealed with him in glory.4When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
So put to death your worldly impulses: sexual sin, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry). 5Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
It is because of these things that the wrath of God is coming on those who are disobedient.6On account of these the wrath of God is coming.
You used to behave like them as you lived among them. 7In these you too once walked, when you were living in them.
But now you must also get rid of anger, wrath, malice, slander, obscene speech, and all such sins. 8But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.
Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old nature with its practices 9Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices
and have clothed yourselves with the new nature, which is being renewed in full knowledge, consistent with the image of the one who created it. 10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
In him there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, or free person. Instead, the Messiah is all and in all.11Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.
Therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. 12Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,
Be tolerant of one another and forgive each other if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, you also should forgive.13bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which ties everything together in unity. 14And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
Let the peace of the Messiah also rule in your hearts, to which you were called in one body, and be thankful. 15And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
Let the word of the Messiah inhabit you richly with wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, and singing to God with thankfulness in your hearts. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
And whatever you do, whether by speech or action, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.17And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is appropriate for those who belong to the Lord. 18Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.19Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord. 20Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
Fathers, do not make your children resentful. Otherwise, they'll become discouraged.21Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only while being watched in order to please them, but with a sincere heart, fearing the Lord. 22Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.
Whatever you do, work at it wholeheartedly as though you were doing it for the Lord and not merely for people. 23Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
You know that it is from the Lord that you will receive the inheritance as a reward. It is the Lord Messiah whom you are serving! 24knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
For the person who does what is wrong will be paid back for what he has done without favoritism.25For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.
