Psalm 27
HCSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
Davidic. The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom should I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom should I be afraid? 1The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
When evildoers came against me to devour my flesh, my foes and my enemies stumbled and fell. 2When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall.
Though an army deploys against me, my heart is not afraid; though a war breaks out against me, still I am confident. 3Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.
I have asked one thing from the LORD; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the LORD and seeking Him in His temple. 4One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.
For He will conceal me in His shelter in the day of adversity; He will hide me under the cover of His tent; He will set me high on a rock. 5For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock.
Then my head will be high above my enemies around me; I will offer sacrifices in His tent with shouts of joy. I will sing and make music to the LORD. 6And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the LORD.
LORD, hear my voice when I call; be gracious to me and answer me. 7Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me!
My heart says this about You," You are to seek My face." LORD, I will seek Your face. 8You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, LORD, do I seek.”
Do not hide Your face from me; do not turn Your servant away in anger. You have been my helper; do not leave me or abandon me, God of my salvation. 9Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation!
Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD cares for me. 10For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the LORD will take me in.
Because of my adversaries, show me Your way, LORD, and lead me on a level path. 11Teach me your way, O LORD, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies.
Do not give me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing violence. 12Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence.
I am certain that I will see the LORD's goodness in the land of the living. 13I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living!
Wait for the LORD; be strong and courageous. Wait for the LORD. 14Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!
