Psalm 10
ESV Parallel BSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionBerean Study Bible
Why, O LORD, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?1Why, O LORD, do You stand far off? Why do You hide in times of trouble?
In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised.2In pride the wicked pursue the needy; let them be caught in the schemes they devise.
For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the LORD.3For the wicked man boasts in the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD.
In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.”4In his pride the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his schemes there is no God.
His ways prosper at all times; your judgments are on high, out of his sight; as for all his foes, he puffs at them.5He is secure in his ways at all times; Your lofty judgments are far from him; he sneers at all his foes.
He says in his heart, “I shall not be moved; throughout all generations I shall not meet adversity.”6He says to himself, “I will not be moved; from age to age I am free of distress.”
His mouth is filled with cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue are mischief and iniquity.7His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and violence; trouble and malice are under his tongue.
He sits in ambush in the villages; in hiding places he murders the innocent. His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless;8He lies in wait near the villages; in ambush he slays the innocent; his eyes watch in stealth for the helpless.
he lurks in ambush like a lion in his thicket; he lurks that he may seize the poor; he seizes the poor when he draws him into his net.9He lies in wait like a lion in a thicket; he lurks to seize the oppressed; he catches the lowly in his net.
The helpless are crushed, sink down, and fall by his might.10They are crushed and beaten down; the hapless fall prey to his strength.
He says in his heart, “God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it.”11He says to himself, “God has forgotten; He hides His face and never sees.”
Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up your hand; forget not the afflicted.12Arise, O LORD! Lift up Your hand, O God! Do not forget the helpless.
Why does the wicked renounce God and say in his heart, “You will not call to account”?13Why has the wicked man renounced God? He says to himself, “You will never call me to account.”
But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands; to you the helpless commits himself; you have been the helper of the fatherless.14But You have regarded trouble and grief; You see to repay it by Your hand. The victim entrusts himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless.
Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call his wickedness to account till you find none.15Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call him to account for his wickedness until none is left to be found.
The LORD is king forever and ever; the nations perish from his land.16The LORD is King forever and ever; the nations perish from His land.
O LORD, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear17You have heard, O LORD, the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their hearts. You will incline Your ear,
to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more.18to vindicate the fatherless and oppressed, that the men of the earth may strike terror no more.
