| 1Out of the depths I call to you, LORD! | 1I cry to you from the depths, LORD, |
| 2Lord, listen to my voice; let your ears be attentive to my cry for help. | 2Lord, listen to my voice; let your ears pay attention to what I ask of you! |
| 3LORD, if you kept an account of iniquities, Lord, who could stand? | 3LORD, if you were to record iniquities, Lord, who could remain standing? |
| 4But with you there is forgiveness, so that you may be revered. | 4But with you there is forgiveness, so that you may be feared. |
| 5I wait for the LORD; I wait and put my hope in his word. | 5I wait for the LORD; my soul waits, and I will hope in his word. |
| 6I wait for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning--more than watchmen for the morning. | 6My soul looks to the Lord more than watchmen look for the morning— more, indeed, than watchmen for the morning. |
| 7Israel, put your hope in the LORD. For there is faithful love with the LORD, and with him is redemption in abundance. | 7Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is gracious love, along with abundant redemption. |
| 8And he will redeem Israel from all its iniquities. | 8And he will redeem Israel from all its sins. |
