CSB Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Christian Standard BibleInternational Standard Version
Dishonest scales are detestable to the LORD, but an accurate weight is his delight.1The LORD hates false scales, but he delights in accurate weights.
When arrogance comes, disgrace follows, but with humility comes wisdom.2When pride appears, disgrace accompanies it, but humility is present with wisdom.
The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perversity of the treacherous destroys them.3The integrity of the righteous guides them, but the hypocrisy of the treacherous destroys them.
Wealth is not profitable on a day of wrath, but righteousness rescues from death.4Wealth won't help in the time of judgment, but righteousness will deliver from death.
The righteousness of the blameless clears his path, but the wicked person will fall because of his wickedness.5The righteousness of the innocent creates a level path, but the wicked fall by their wickedness.
The righteousness of the upright rescues them, but the treacherous are trapped by their own desires.6The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the treacherous are trapped by their evil desires.
When the wicked person dies, his expectation comes to nothing, and hope placed in wealth vanishes.7When a wicked person dies, his hope vanishes; and what he expected from his scheming comes to nothing.
The righteous one is rescued from trouble; in his place, the wicked one goes in.8The righteous person is delivered from trouble; it comes upon the wicked instead.
With his mouth the ungodly destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous are rescued.9By what he says, the godless person can destroy his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous escape.
When the righteous thrive, a city rejoices; when the wicked die, there is joyful shouting.10The city rejoices when the righteous prosper, and when the wicked perish there is jubilation.
A city is built up by the blessing of the upright, but it is torn down by the mouth of the wicked.11Through the blessing of the righteous a city is built up, but what the wicked say tears it down.
Whoever shows contempt for his neighbor lacks sense, but a person with understanding keeps silent.12Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but the discerning man controls his comments.
A gossip goes around revealing a secret, but a trustworthy person keeps a confidence.13Whoever spreads gossip betrays secrets, but the trustworthy person keeps a confidence.
Without guidance, a people will fall, but with many counselors there is deliverance.14A nation falls through a lack of guidance, but victory comes through the counsel of many.
If someone puts up security for a stranger, he will suffer for it, but the one who hates such agreements is protected.15Securing a loan for a stranger will bring suffering, but by refusing to do so, one remains safe.
A gracious woman gains honor, but violent people gain only riches.16A gracious woman attains honor, but ruthless men attain wealth.
A kind man benefits himself, but a cruel person brings ruin on himself.17A gracious man benefits himself, but the cruel person damages himself.
The wicked person earns an empty wage, but the one who sows righteousness, a true reward.18Evil people earn deceptive wages, but those who plant righteousness are truly rewarded.
Genuine righteousness leads to life, but pursuing evil leads to death.19Genuine righteousness leads to life, but whoever pursues evil will die.
Those with twisted minds are detestable to the LORD, but those with blameless conduct are his delight.20Devious minds are abhorrent to the LORD, but those whose ways are innocent are his delight.
Be assured that a wicked person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will escape.21Be sure of this: the wicked will not go unpunished, but the descendants of the righteous will go free.
A beautiful woman who rejects good sense is like a gold ring in a pig's snout.22Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman without discretion.
The desire of the righteous turns out well, but the hope of the wicked leads to wrath.23The desire of the righteous is to seek good, but the hope of the wicked results in wrath.
One person gives freely, yet gains more; another withholds what is right, only to become poor.24Those who give freely gain even more; others hold back what they owe, becoming even poorer.
A generous person will be enriched, and the one who gives a drink of water will receive water.25A generous person will prosper, and anyone who gives water will receive a flood in return.
People will curse anyone who hoards grain, but a blessing will come to the one who sells it.26People will curse whoever withholds grain, but blessing will come to whoever is selling.
The one who searches for what is good seeks favor, but if someone looks for trouble, it will come to him.27The person seeking good will find favor, but anyone who searches for evil—it will find him!
Anyone trusting in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like foliage.28The person who trusts in his wealth will fall, but the righteous will flourish like green leaves.
The one who brings ruin on his household will inherit the wind, and a fool will be a slave to someone whose heart is wise.29Whoever troubles his household will inherit the wind, and the fool will be a servant to the wise.
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and a wise person captivates people.30The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who wins people is wise.
If the righteous will be repaid on earth, how much more the wicked and sinful.31If the righteous receive what they are due here on earth, how much more will the wicked and the sinner.
