1The fool says in his heart, "There's no God." They are corrupt; they do vile deeds. There is no one who does good. | 1For the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt; their acts are vile. There is no one who does good. |
2The LORD looks down from heaven on the human race to see if there is one who is wise, one who seeks God. | 2The LORD looks down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if any understand, if any seek God. |
3All have turned away; all alike have become corrupt. There is no one who does good, not even one. | 3All have turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. |
4Will evildoers never understand? They consume my people as they consume bread; they do not call on the LORD. | 4Will the workers of iniquity never learn? They devour my people like bread; they refuse to call upon the LORD. |
5Then they will be filled with dread, for God is with those who are righteous. | 5There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is in the company of the righteous. |
