A Miktam of David. Preserve me, O God, for in You I take refuge. | 1A Davidic Miktam. Protect me, God, for I take refuge in You. |
I said to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing.” | 2I said to Yahweh, "You are my Lord; I have nothing good besides You." |
As for the saints in the land, they are the excellence in whom all my delight resides. | 3As for the holy people who are in the land, they are the noble ones. All my delight is in them. |
Sorrows will multiply to those who chase other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood, or speak their names with my lips. | 4The sorrows of those who take another god for themselves will multiply; I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood, and I will not speak their names with my lips. |
The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; You have made my lot secure. | 5 LORD, You are my portion and my cup of blessing; You hold my future. |
The lines of my boundary have fallen in pleasant places; surely my inheritance is delightful. | 6The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. |
I will bless the LORD who counsels me; even at night my conscience instructs me. | 7I will praise the LORD who counsels me-- even at night my conscience instructs me. |
I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. | 8I keep the LORD in mind always. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. |
Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will dwell securely. | 9Therefore my heart is glad and my spirit rejoices; my body also rests securely. |
For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay. | 10For You will not abandon me to Sheol; You will not allow Your Faithful One to see decay. |
You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand. | 11You reveal the path of life to me; in Your presence is abundant joy; in Your right hand are eternal pleasures. |
