Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven.1Masters, treat your bondservants justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.1Masters, grant to your slaves justice and fairness, knowing that you too have a Master in heaven.1Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.1Masters, supply your slaves with what is right and fair, since you know that you too have a Master in heaven.
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.2Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.2Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;2Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;2Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving.
And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.3At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison—3praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned;3Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:3At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the message, to speak the mystery of the Messiah, for which I am in prison,
Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.4that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.4that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.4That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.4so that I may reveal it as I am required to speak.

Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.6Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.6Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.6Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.6Your speech should always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person.
