The Call of Jeremiah

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
The word of the LORD came to me, saying,4Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying,4Now the word of the LORD came to me saying,4Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,4The word of the LORD came to me:
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."5“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”5"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations."5Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.5I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you a prophet to the nations.
"Alas, Sovereign LORD," I said, "I do not know how to speak; I am too young."6Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.”6Then I said, "Alas, Lord GOD! Behold, I do not know how to speak, Because I am a youth."6Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.6But I protested, "Oh no, Lord GOD! Look, I don't know how to speak since I am only a youth."
But the LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I am too young.' You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.7But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.7But the LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I am a youth,' Because everywhere I send you, you shall go, And all that I command you, you shall speak.7But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.7Then the LORD said to me: Do not say, "I am only a youth," for you will go to everyone I send you to and speak whatever I tell you.

Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you," declares the LORD.8Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the LORD.”8"Do not be afraid of them, For I am with you to deliver you," declares the LORD.8Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.8Do not be afraid of anyone, for I will be with you to deliver you. This is the LORD's declaration.
Then the LORD reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, "I have put my words in your mouth.9Then the LORD put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the LORD said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.9Then the LORD stretched out His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me, "Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.9Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.9Then the LORD reached out His hand, touched my mouth, and told me: I have now filled your mouth with My words.
See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant."10See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”10"See, I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms, To pluck up and to break down, To destroy and to overthrow, To build and to plant."10See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.10See, I have appointed you today over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and demolish, to build and plant.
The word of the LORD came to me: "What do you see, Jeremiah?" "I see the branch of an almond tree," I replied.11And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see an almond branch.”11The word of the LORD came to me saying, "What do you see, Jeremiah?" And I said, "I see a rod of an almond tree."11Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.11Then the word of the LORD came to me, asking, "What do you see, Jeremiah?" I replied, "I see a branch of an almond tree."
The LORD said to me, "You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled."12Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”12Then the LORD said to me, "You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to perform it."12Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.12The LORD said to me, "You have seen correctly, for I watch over My word to accomplish it."

The word of the LORD came to me again: "What do you see?" "I see a pot that is boiling," I answered. "It is tilting toward us from the north."13The word of the LORD came to me a second time, saying, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a boiling pot, facing away from the north.”13The word of the LORD came to me a second time saying, "What do you see?" And I said, "I see a boiling pot, facing away from the north."13And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.13Again the word of the LORD came to me inquiring, "What do you see?" And I replied, "I see a boiling pot, its lip tilted from the north to the south."
The LORD said to me, "From the north disaster will be poured out on all who live in the land.14Then the LORD said to me, “Out of the north disaster shall be let loose upon all the inhabitants of the land.14Then the LORD said to me, "Out of the north the evil will break forth on all the inhabitants of the land.14Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.14Then the LORD said to me, "Disaster will be poured out from the north on all who live in the land.
I am about to summon all the peoples of the northern kingdoms," declares the LORD. "Their kings will come and set up their thrones in the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem; they will come against all her surrounding walls and against all the towns of Judah.15For behold, I am calling all the tribes of the kingdoms of the north, declares the LORD, and they shall come, and every one shall set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, against all its walls all around and against all the cities of Judah.15"For, behold, I am calling all the families of the kingdoms of the north," declares the LORD; "and they will come and they will set each one his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all its walls round about and against all the cities of Judah.15For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.15Indeed, I am about to summon all the clans and kingdoms of the north." This is the LORD's declaration. They will come, and each king will set up his throne at the entrance to Jerusalem's gates. They will attack all her surrounding walls and all the other cities of Judah.
I will pronounce my judgments on my people because of their wickedness in forsaking me, in burning incense to other gods and in worshiping what their hands have made.16And I will declare my judgments against them, for all their evil in forsaking me. They have made offerings to other gods and worshiped the works of their own hands.16"I will pronounce My judgments on them concerning all their wickedness, whereby they have forsaken Me and have offered sacrifices to other gods, and worshiped the works of their own hands.16And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.16"I will pronounce My judgments against them for all the evil they did when they abandoned Me to burn incense to other gods and to worship the works of their own hands.
"Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them.17But you, dress yourself for work; arise, and say to them everything that I command you. Do not be dismayed by them, lest I dismay you before them.17"Now, gird up your loins and arise, and speak to them all which I command you. Do not be dismayed before them, or I will dismay you before them.17Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.17"Now, get ready. Stand up and tell them everything that I command you. Do not be intimidated by them or I will cause you to cower before them.

Today I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land--against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land.18And I, behold, I make you this day a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land.18"Now behold, I have made you today as a fortified city and as a pillar of iron and as walls of bronze against the whole land, to the kings of Judah, to its princes, to its priests and to the people of the land.18For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.18Today, I am the One who has made you a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land--against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the population.
They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you," declares the LORD.19They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, declares the LORD, to deliver you.”19"They will fight against you, but they will not overcome you, for I am with you to deliver you," declares the LORD.19And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.19They will fight against you but never prevail over you, since I am with you to rescue you." This is the LORD's declaration.
