Ephesians 2
Literal Emphasis Translation Par ▾
1And you, being dead in your failings (false steps, trespasses, falling away after being close beside) and sins 2in which you once walked according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit now working in the sons of willful unbelief, 3Among (in) whom we also all once lived (turned back, overturned, conducted) in the strong urges (passionate desires) of our flesh, doing the things willed of the flesh and its dispositions (thoughts, understandings), and we were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. 4However God, being rich in mercy, because of His much love with which He loved us, 5even we being dead in failings, made us alive together with Christ- by grace you are saved- 6And raised us up together and seated us together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus, 7So that He might show in the ages that are coming the exceeding wealth of His grace in useful kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. 8For by grace you are saved through faith, and this not from out of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not from out of works, so that not anyone may boast. 10For we are His work, having been created in Christ Jesus upon good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we should walk in them.

11Therefore remember that you once were ethnicities in the flesh, the ones being called the uncircumcision by that being called the circumcision in the flesh made by hand— 12That you were at the time separate from Christ, alienated from the citizenship of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, not having hope, and without God (godless) in the world. 13However now in Christ Jesus, you once being far away have become near in the blood of Christ. 14For He himself is our peace having made both one and has broken down the middle barrier of the partition (fencing in), 15Having annulled the enmity in His flesh, the law of commandments in ordinances, so that he might create the two in Himself into one new man, making peace; 16And He might reconcile both in one body to God through the cross, having slain the enmity in it; 17And having come He preached the gospel of peace to you who were afar away and peace to those near. 18Because through Him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

19So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but rather you are fellow-citizens of the saints and of the household of God 20having been built up upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the cornerstone, 21In whom the whole building being fitted together is increasing unto a temple, holy in the Lord, 22In whom you also are being built together unto a habitation of God in the Spirit.
