1And after this, Job opened his mouth and cursed the day on which he was born
2Job answered and said: 3“Let the day in which I was born be destroyed, and the night in which it was said, ‘a man is conceived’ 4Let that day be dark and let it not be sought by God from above, neither let light shine upon it 5Let darkness and the shadow of death cover it. Let a cloud sink upon it and let the bitterness of the day terrify it 6Let that night cover it in blackness. That day not shall be counted in the number of the days of the year and in the number of the months it shall not enter 7That night shall be destitute and a song shall not enter it 8The cursers of the day shall curse it, those who are going to rouse up Leviathan 9Let the stars of its dawning be darkened; let them look for light and it shall not be, and let it not see the rays of its dawning 10Because it shut not the doors of the womb of my mother nor hid pain from my eyes 11Why did I not die from the womb, and from conception why did I come out the threshold? 12Why did the knees rear me and why did I suck from the breasts? 13But doubtless now I had been sleeping and quiet, and I had been lying down and resting 14With Kings and Rulers of The Earth who were building up desolations for themselves 15Or with Rulers who had gold, and money fills their households 16Or like a miscarriage buried where I had not been, and like embryos who did not see the light 17There the evil have ceased from being restless, and there those who are weary in their lives are given rest 18Together prisoners are calm and they do not hear the voice of the oppressor 19The small and the great are there, and the Servant who is freed from his Master 20Why is light given to sufferers and life to the bitter of soul 21Who expect death, and it is not, and seek it like a treasure 22Who rejoice and they assemble and they exult when they find the tomb 23To a man whose way is hidden and God descends upon him? 24Because before my bread my sighing entered, and my moanings are poured out like waters 25Because the fear which I feared has come upon me, and that thing by which I was shaken has met me 26I was not silent and I was not resting and I was not fallen down, and wrath came” The Peshitta Holy Bible Translated Translated by Glenn David Bauscher Glenn David Bauscher Lulu Publishing Copyright © 2018 Lulu Publishing 3rd edition Copyright © 2019 |
