WagonsWere sent by Joseph to convey his father's family into Egypt. The same vehicle, translated "cart" in 1 Samuel 6:7, was employed to transport some of the sacred utensils, Numbers 7:3,6, and in one instance the ark itself. In those later cases it was drawn by oxen. It was probably of simple structure, with two solid wheels. Such carts are sometimes used in Syria in removing agricultural produce, Am 2:3; but vehicles of any kind are little used, and travelers and merchandise are borne on the backs of camels, horses, and mules. See CART.
