Thraldom, a term often synonymous with slavery or bondage, refers to a state of subjugation or servitude. In the context of the Bible, thraldom can be understood both in the literal sense of physical enslavement and in the metaphorical sense of spiritual or moral bondage.

Old Testament Context

In the Old Testament, the concept of thraldom is most prominently illustrated in the Israelites' bondage in Egypt. The book of Exodus recounts how the Israelites were subjected to harsh slavery under Pharaoh, which led to their eventual deliverance by God through Moses. Exodus 1:13-14 states, "They worked the Israelites ruthlessly and made their lives bitter with hard labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their hard labor, the Egyptians used them ruthlessly
