Wisdom

In the Old Testament, wisdom is personified in the book of Proverbs, where it is depicted as calling out to humanity to embrace her teachings. Proverbs 9:10 states, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

The pursuit of wisdom is encouraged throughout Scripture, with an emphasis on its divine origin. James 1:5 advises, "Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." This verse underscores the belief that true wisdom comes from God and is accessible to those who seek it earnestly.

Solomon, known for his wisdom, exemplifies the biblical ideal of a wise ruler. When God offered him anything he desired, Solomon chose wisdom to govern his people effectively. 1 Kings 3:12 records God's response: "Behold, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there has never been nor will ever be another like you."

In the New Testament, wisdom is closely associated with the teachings of Jesus Christ. Colossians 2:3 affirms that in Christ "are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." Believers are encouraged to seek wisdom through a relationship with Christ, who embodies divine wisdom.
