God came from Teman,

Teman lay in Edom, south and southeast of Judah. Habakkuk portrays the Lord as a divine warrior advancing from the southern wilderness, recalling His mighty appearance for Israel in the days of the Exodus. Deuteronomy 33:2 and Judges 5:4 likewise remember the Lord’s coming from Sinai and Seir to lead, defend, and judge.

Selah

The pause calls God’s people to stop and consider the majesty of the Lord who has acted in history and will act again in judgment and salvation.

His glory covered the heavens,

God’s appearing cannot be contained by one mountain, nation, or battlefield. His radiant glory reaches across the heavens, revealing His sovereign rule over creation. Isaiah saw the same reality when the seraphim declared that the whole earth is full of the Lord’s glory.

and His praise filled the earth.
