Encouragement to Be Faithful

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
3I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.3I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day.3I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience the way my forefathers did, as I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day,3I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;3I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience as my ancestors did, when I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day.
4Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy.4As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy.4longing to see you, even as I recall your tears, so that I may be filled with joy.4Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;4Remembering your tears, I long to see you so that I may be filled with joy,
5I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.5I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.5For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well.5When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.5clearly recalling your sincere faith that first lived in your grandmother Lois, then in your mother Eunice, and that I am convinced is in you also.

Patience in Persecution

(Matthew 10:16-25)

6For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.6For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands,6For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.6Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.6Therefore, I remind you to keep ablaze the gift of God that is in you through the laying on of my hands.
7For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.7for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.7For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.7For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.
8So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.8Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,8Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God,8Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;8So don't be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, or of me His prisoner. Instead, share in suffering for the gospel, relying on the power of God.
9He has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,9who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,9who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,9Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,9He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.

10but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.10and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,10but now has been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,10But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:10This has now been made evident through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who has abolished death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
11And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher.11for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher,11for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle and a teacher.11Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.11For this gospel I was appointed a herald, apostle, and teacher,
12That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.12which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.12For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.12For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.12and that is why I suffer these things. But I am not ashamed, because I know the One I have believed in and am persuaded that He is able to guard what has been entrusted to me until that day.

Hold to Sound Teaching

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
13What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus.13Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.13Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.13Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.13Hold on to the pattern of sound teaching that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
14Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you--guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.14By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you.14Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you.14That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.14Guard, through the Holy Spirit who lives in us, that good thing entrusted to you.
15You know that everyone in the province of Asia has deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.15You are aware that all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.15You are aware of the fact that all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.15This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.15This you know: All those in Asia have turned away from me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.
16May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains.16May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains,16The Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains;16The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:16May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains.

17On the contrary, when he was in Rome, he searched hard for me until he found me.17but when he arrived in Rome he searched for me earnestly and found me—17but when he was in Rome, he eagerly searched for me and found me--17But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.17On the contrary, when he was in Rome, he diligently searched for me and found me.
18May the Lord grant that he will find mercy from the Lord on that day! You know very well in how many ways he helped me in Ephesus.18may the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day!—and you well know all the service he rendered at Ephesus.18the Lord grant to him to find mercy from the Lord on that day-- and you know very well what services he rendered at Ephesus.18The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.18May the Lord grant that he obtain mercy from Him on that day. And you know very well how much he ministered at Ephesus.
