1And when the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary, the mother of James, and Salome, bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint Him. 2And on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb at sunrise. 3And they asked themselves, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb for us?”, for it was very large. 4And when they arrived, they saw that the stone was rolled away. 5And as they entered the tomb, they saw a young man in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. 6And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed; you are seeking Jesus of Nazareth, Who was crucified. He has risen; He is not here; see the place where they had laid Him. 7But go, tell His disciples and Peter that He is going ahead of you into Galilee; and there you shall see Him, as He had told you.” 8And they went out quickly, and fled from the tomb; trembling with amazement. Nor did they say anything to anyone; for they were afraid. Note that the oldest manuscripts of Mark end with verse 16:8. Later manuscripts add one or both of the following endings. The shorter of the two added endings of Mark reads: “Then they briefly reported all this to Peter and his companions.” The longer of the two adds: “Afterward Jesus himself sent them out from east to west with the sacred and unfailing message of salvation that gives eternal life. Amen.” 9Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. 10And she went and told those that had been with Him, as they mourned and wept. 11And they, when they had heard that He was alive, and had been seen by her, did not believe. 12After that He appeared in another form to two of them, as they walked, and went into the country. 13And they went and told it to the rest; but they did not believe them, either. 14Later, He appeared to the eleven as they sat eating, and upbraided them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He was risen. 15And He said to them, “Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to all creation. 16He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that does not believe shall be condemned. 17And these signs shall follow them that believe: In My name, they shall cast out demons; they shall speak in new tongues; 18They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.” 19So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. 20And the disciples went out, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirmed the word accompanying signs.
