1Since you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on those things which are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. 2Set your mind (focus) on things above, not on earthly things. 3For you have died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ, Who is our life, appears, then we shall also appear with Him in glory. 5So put to death the sinful earthly things that lurk within you – sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, greed or coveting (which is idolatry), 6It is because of these things that the wrath of God is coming upon the disobedient - 7The things that you once indulged in. 8But now you must also rid yourself of all these: anger, rage, malice, blasphemy, slander, dirty language. 9Do not lie to one another, since you have shed the old sinful nature with its practices, 10And have put on your new self, remade in the image of its Creator by your knowledge of Him, 11In this new life where there is neither Greek (Gentile) nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free; but Christ is all, and in all. 12Since God has chosen you to be the holy people He loves, your life should exemplify tender mercies, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13Make allowances for and forgive one another: if you have a grievance against someone, forgive them; just as Christ has forgiven you. 14And above all, exercise love, which binds us in perfect harmony. 15And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, as members of one body; and be ever thankful. 16Let the message of Christ dwell richly among you; in all wisdom teaching, admonishing and encouraging one another, with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs; singing to the Lord with gratitude in your hearts. 17And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God,the Father through Him. 18Wives, submit to your own husbands, as it is fitting in the Lord. 19Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. 20Children, obey your parents in all things; for this is well pleasing to the Lord. 21Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, that they do not become embittered or discouraged. 22Servants (or slaves), obey your masters at all times; not just with eye-service (not just when they are watching); but with a sincere heart, and reverence for God. 23And whatever you are doing, do it enthusiastically, as unto the Lord, and not for human masters; 24Since you know that you shall receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward; for it is the Lord, Jesus Christ, that you serve. 25But those who do wrong shall be repaid for those wrongs; and there is no favoritism with God in this regard.
