1 And when they drew nigh to Jerusalem and were come to Bethphage at the mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, 2 saying unto them, Go into the village over-against you, and ye will find directly an ass tied and a colt with her: loose them and bring them to me: 3 and if any one say any thing to you, tell him the Lord hath need of them, and he will immediately send them. 4 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, 5 behold, thy king cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, even a colt the fole of an ass. 6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus ordered them, 7 and brought the ass and the colt, and threw their clothes over them, and set Him upon them. 8 And great numbers spread their garments in the way, and others cut off boughs from the trees, and strewed them in the way: 9 and the multitudes, that went before and that followed, cried saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: blessed be He that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. 10 And when He came into Jerusalem, all the city was in a commotion, saying, Who is this?
