1 The second lot came out for the clans of the tribe of Simeon (heard): Their inheritance lay within the territory of Judah (praised) 2 and included Beersheba (well of seven) (or Sheba (seven)), Moladah (birth / race), 3 Hazar-shual (jackal village), Balah (waxed old), Ezem (bone), 4 Eltolad (God's generations), Bethul (dweller in God), Hormah (destruction), 5 Ziklag (winding), Beth-marcaboth (house of the chariots), Hazar-susah (horse village), 6 Beth-lebaoth (house of lionesses), and Sharuhen (refuge of grace)—thirteen cities, along with their villages. 7 Ain (spring), Rimmon (pomegranate), Ether (abundant), and Ashan (smoke)—four cities, along with their villages, 8 and all the villages surrounding these cities as far as Baalath-beer (mistress of the well) (Ramah (hill) of the Negev (southland)). This was the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Simeon (heard). 9 The inheritance of the Simeonites (heard) was taken from the territory of Judah (praised), because the share for Judah’s descendants was too large for them. So the Simeonites received an inheritance within Judah’s portion. 10 The third lot came up for the clans of the tribe of Zebulun (exalted): The border of their inheritance stretched as far as Sarid (survivor). 11 It went up westward to Maralah (trembling), reached Dabbesheth (a hill-place), and met the brook east of Jokneam (the people lament). 12 From Sarid (survivor) it turned eastward along the border of Chisloth-tabor (flanks of Tabor) and went on to Daberath (word) and up to Japhia (shining). 13 From there it crossed eastward to Gath-hepher (the winepress of digging) and to Eth-kazin (time of the judge); it extended to Rimmon (pomegranate) and curved around toward Neah (shaking).
