Having said these things, Jesus went out with His disciples beyond the Brook of Kidron, where there was a garden into which He and His disciples entered.

Now Judas, who is delivering Him up, also knew the place, because Jesus often gathered together there with His disciples.

Therefore Judas, having procured the cohort and officers from the chief priests and from the Pharisees, comes there with lanterns and torches and weapons.

Jesus, therefore, knowing all things that are coming upon Him, having gone out, also said to them, “Whom do you? seek?”

They answered Him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” He says to them, “I am He.” Now Judas, who is delivering Him up, also had been standing with them.

Therefore when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew toward the back and fell to the ground.

Again, therefore, He questioned them, “Whom do you? seek?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”

Jesus answered, “I said to you? that I am He. Therefore if you? seek Me, allow these to go away,”

so that the word that He had spoken might be fulfilled: “Those whom You have given Me, I did not lose any of them, not one.”

Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. Now the servant’s name was Malchus.

Therefore Jesus said to Peter, “Put the sword into the sheath! The cup that the Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?”

Then the cohort and the commander and the officers of the Jews took hold of Jesus and bound Him.

And they led Him away to Annas first; for he was father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest the same year.

Now Caiaphas was the one having given counsel to the Jews that it is profitable for one man to perish for the people.

And Simon Peter and another disciple were following Jesus. Now since that disciple was known to the high priest, he also entered with Jesus into the court of the high priest.

But Peter stood at the door outside. Therefore the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper and brought in Peter.

Therefore the servant girl, the doorkeeper, says to Peter, “Are you not also of the disciples of this man?” He says, “I am not.”

Now the servants and the officers were standing, having made a fire of coals, for it was cold and they were warming themselves. And Peter was also standing with them and warming himself.
