1 Concerning Moab, thus says YHWH of Hosts, the God of Israel: “Woe to Nebo, for it is ruined! Kiriathaim has been put to shame; it has been captured; the fortress has been put to shame and shattered! 2 There is no longer praise for Moab! In Heshbon they have devised against her evil: ‘Come, and let us cut her off from nationhood!’ Also, O Madmen, you will be silenced, after you will go the sword. 3 A voice cries out from Horonaim: ‘Devastation and great destruction!’ 4 Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused to be heard a cry. 5 For the ascent of Luhith with weeping, they ascend weeping; for on the descent of Horonaim they have heard the distressed cry of destruction.
