1 And it came to pass, in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first of the month, that the word of YHWH came to me, saying: 2 “Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him: ‘To a young lion of the nations you may be compared, and you are like the monster in the seas. You burst forth in your rivers and you stir up the waters with your feet, and you muddy their rivers.’ 3 Thus says the Lord YHWH: ‘And I will spread over you My net with a throng of many peoples, and they will draw you up in My net. 4 And I will leave you on the land; upon the face of the field I will throw you, and I will make dwell upon you all the birds of the heavens, and I will give the fill of you to the beasts of all the earth. 5 And I will lay your flesh upon the mountains, and I will fill the valleys with your remains. 6 And I will water the land with the flow of your blood, up to the mountains, and the ravines will be full of you. 7 And in My quenching of you I will cover the heavens, and I will make dark their stars; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not radiate her light.
