16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. And the king spoke and said to Daniel, Your God whom you serve continually, he will deliver you. 17 And they brought a large stone and laid it upon the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet and with the signet of his princes, so that the sentence might not be changed concerning Daniel. 18 Then the king went to his palace and passed the night fasting; no food was brought before him, and his sleep departed from him. 19 Then the king arose in the morning early and went in haste to the den of lions. 20 And when he came to the den, he cried with a loud voice to Daniel, and the king spoke and said to Daniel. O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God whom you serve continually been able to deliver you from the lions? 21 Then Daniel spoke to the king and said, O king, live for ever! 22 My God has sent his angel and has shut the lions' mouths, and they have not hurt me, because I was innocent before him; and also before you, O king, I have committed no offense. 23 Then the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den.
