7 And Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, “I am your servant and your son; come up and save me from the hand of the king of Aram and from the hand of the king of Israel, who are rising up against me.” 8 And Ahaz took the silver and the gold that was found in the house of YHWH and in the treasuries of the house of the king, and he sent it to the king of Assyria—a bribe. 9 And the king of Assyria listened to him, and the king of Assyria went up against Damascus and took it, and he removed it to Kir. And Rezin he killed. 10 And King Ahaz went to meet Tiglath-pileser King of Assyria at Damascus. And he saw an altar that was at Damascus, and King Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the design of the altar and its pattern, according to all its workmanship. 11 And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus; so did Urijah the priest until came back King Ahaz from Damascus. 12 And the king came back from Damascus, and the king saw the altar, and the king drew near on the altar and made offerings on it. 13 And he burned his burnt offering and his grain offering, and he poured out his drink offering and sprinkled the blood of the peace offerings that were of him on the altar. 14 And the bronze altar that was before YHWH He also brought from the front of the temple (from between the altar and between the house of YHWH), and he put it on the side of the altar to the north. 15 And King Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, “On the great altar burn the burnt offering of the morning, and the grain offering of the evening, and the burnt offering of the king, and his grain offering, and the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their grain offerings, and their drink offerings. And all the blood of the burnt offering and all the blood of the sacrifice sprinkle on it. And the bronze altar shall be for me to seek guidance.” 16 And Urijah the priest did according to all that King Ahaz commanded. 17 And King Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and he removed from them the basin. And he took down the Sea from the bronze oxen that were under it, and he put it on a pavement of stones. 18 And the covered place for the Sabbath that they had built in the temple, and the outer entrance of the king, he removed from the house of YHWH on account of the king of Assyria. 19 And the rest of the acts of Ahaz that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Words of the Days of the Kings of Judah? 20 And Ahaz rested with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the City of David. And Hezekiah reigned his son in his place. 2 Kings 16:7-20, Berean Literal Bible. Public domain.
