1 BUT you must preach the things which are proper to sound doctrine. But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.
2 Teach the older men to be vigilant, sober, pure, sound in faith, in love, charity and patience. Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
3 Teach the older women likewise, to behave as becomes the worship of God, not false accusers, not enslaved to much wine, but to become teachers of good things; Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
4 That they may teach the young women to be modest, to love their husbands and their children, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children,
5 To be discreet, chaste, good home keepers, obedient to their own husbands, so that no one can reproach the word of God. to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
6 Likewise exhort the young to be modest. Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.
7 In every thing show yourself an example in all good works, and in your teaching let your word be sound. Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, In everything set them an example by doing what is good. 8 Choose sound words that are instructive so that no man can point the finger of scorn at us, and so that he who is against us may be shamed, when he can find nothing evil to say about us. and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
9 Exhort servants to be obedient to their own masters and to please them well in all things not contentious; Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them,
10 Not stealing but manifesting true sincerity that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has been revealed to all men. For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
12 It teaches us to renounce ungodliness and worldly lusts, and to live in this world soberly, righteously, and in godliness; training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,
