1 But you are to proclaim things consistent with sound teaching. But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.
2 Older men are to be self-controlled, worthy of respect, sensible, and sound in faith, love, and endurance. Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
3 In the same way, older women are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not slaves to excessive drinking.
