3 And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet beast being full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 5 And upon her forehead a name was written, a mystery: BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 And I saw the woman being drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And having seen her, I marveled with great wonder. 7 And the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast carrying her, having the seven heads and the ten horns. Then the angel said to me: “Why are you astonished? I will explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast she rides, which has the seven heads and ten horns.
8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the Abyss and go into destruction; and those dwelling on the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel, seeing the beast that was, and is not, and will be. The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come. The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and yet will come up out of the Abyss and go to its destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because it once was, now is not, and yet will come.
9 Here is the mind having wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains, where the woman sits on them; This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated; “This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits.
10 and there are seven kings. The five fell, the one is, the other did not yet come; and when he shall have come, it is necessary for him to remain a little while. they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while. 11 And the beast that was and is not is also himself an eighth, and is of the seven, and goes into destruction. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.
12 And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who did not yet receive a kingdom, but receive authority as kings one hour with the beast. And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast. “The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast.
13 These have one purpose, and they give their power and authority to the beast. These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast. They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast.
14 These will war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those with Him are called and chosen and faithful.” They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.” They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”
15 And he says to me, “The waters that you saw where the prostitute sits are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues. And the angel said to me, “The waters that you saw, where the prostitute is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages. Then the angel said to me, “The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages.
16 And the ten horns that you saw, and the beast, these will hate the prostitute, and they will make her desolate and naked, and they will eat her flesh and will burn her in fire. And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the prostitute. They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire, The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire.
17 For God gave into their hearts to do His purpose, and to do one purpose, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God will be completed. for God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to hand over to the beast their royal authority, until God’s words are fulfilled.
18 And the woman whom you saw is the great city, the one having kingship over the kings of the earth.” And the woman that you saw is the great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth.” The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.”
