For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments, upon the eight-stringed lyre. A Psalm by David. Yahweh, don’t rebuke me in your anger, neither discipline me in your wrath. O LORD, rebuke me not in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath. For the director of music. With stringed instruments. According to sheminith. A psalm of David. LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath.
Have mercy on me, Yahweh, for I am faint. Yahweh, heal me, for my bones are troubled. Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are troubled. Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint; heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony.
My soul is also in great anguish. But you, Yahweh—how long? My soul also is greatly troubled. But you, O LORD—how long? My soul is in deep anguish. How long, LORD, how long?
Return, Yahweh. Deliver my soul, and save me for your loving kindness’ sake. Turn, O LORD, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love. Turn, LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.
For in death there is no memory of you. In Sheol, who shall give you thanks? For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who will give you praise? Among the dead no one proclaims your name. Who praises you from the grave?
I am weary with my groaning. Every night I flood my bed. I drench my couch with my tears. I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears; I drench my couch with my weeping. I am worn out from my groaning. All night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.
My eye wastes away because of grief. It grows old because of all my adversaries. My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows weak because of all my foes. My eyes grow weak with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes.
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for Yahweh has heard the voice of my weeping. Depart from me, all you workers of evil, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping. Away from me, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping.
Yahweh has heard my supplication. Yahweh accepts my prayer. The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD accepts my prayer. The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer.
May all my enemies be ashamed and dismayed. They shall turn back, they shall be disgraced suddenly. All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled; they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment. All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish; they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.
