1 For David, when he changed his countenance before Achimelech, who dismissed him, and he went his way. [1 Kings 21.] I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall be always in my mouth. I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Of David. When he pretended to be insane before Abimelek, who drove him away, and he left. I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
2 In the Lord shall my soul be praised: let the meek hear and rejoice. My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad. I will glory in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
3 O magnify the Lord with me; and let us extol his name together. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together! Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me; and he delivered me from all my troubles. I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
5 Come ye to him and be enlightened: and your faces shall not be confounded. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.
6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him: and saved him out of all his troubles. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord shall encamp round about them that fear him: and shall deliver them. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.
8 O taste, and see that the Lord is sweet: blessed is the man that hopeth in him. Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
9 Fear the Lord, all ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack! Fear the LORD, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The rich have wanted, and have suffered hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not be deprived of any good. The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
11 Come, children, hearken to me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 Who is the man that desireth life: who loveth to see good days? What man is there who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good? Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days,
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies.
14 Turn away from evil and do good: seek after peace and pursue it. Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the just: and his ears unto their prayers. The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry. The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry;
16 But the countenance of the Lord is against them that do evil things: to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth.
17 The just cried, and the Lord heard them: and delivered them out of all their troubles. When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.
18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a contrite heart: and he will save the humble of spirit. The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the just; but out of them all will the Lord deliver them. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all;
20 The Lord keepeth all their bones, not one of them shall be broken. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken. he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.
21 The death of the wicked is very evil: and they that hate the just shall be guilty. Affliction will slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned. Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
22 The Lord will redeem the souls of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall offend. The LORD redeems the life of his servants; none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned. The LORD will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.
