THE LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
When evildoers came upon me to devour me, even my enemies and those who hate me, they together stumbled and fell. When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.
Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.
One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the delight of the LORD, and to be in charge of his temple. One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple. One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble he shall hide me in his shelter; in the shadow of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.
And now shall my head he lifted up above my enemies round about me; therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises to the LORD. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the LORD. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.
Hear, O LORD, my voice when I call upon thee; have mercy also upon me and answer me. Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! Hear my voice when I call, LORD; be merciful to me and answer me.
My heart said unto thee, Let my face seek thy face. You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, LORD, do I seek.” My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.
Turn not away thy face from me, O LORD; trouble not thy servant in anger; thou hast been my help, O LORD; east me not out, neither leave me, O my God and my Saviour. Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation! Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior.
Although my father and my mother have deserted me, the LORD has taken me up. For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the LORD will take me in. Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.
Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in thy right paths. Teach me your way, O LORD, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. Teach me your way, LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.
Deliver me not over into the hands of my enemies; for false witnesses are risen up against me and have spoken cruelly. Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence. Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations.
But I have believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Trust in the LORD, and be of good courage; yea, trust in the LORD. Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD! Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
