1 For the choir director. A psalm of David. May the LORD answer you in a day of trouble; may the name of Jacob’s God protect you. May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect you! For the director of music. A psalm of David. May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary and sustain you from Zion. May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion! May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.
3 May he remember all your offerings and accept your burnt offering. Selah May he remember all your offerings and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings.
4 May he give you what your heart desires and fulfill your whole purpose. May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans! May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.
5 Let us shout for joy at your victory and lift the banner in the name of our God. May the LORD fulfill all your requests. May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions! May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.
6 Now I know that the LORD gives victory to his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with mighty victories from his right hand. Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand. Now this I know: The LORD gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand.
7 Some take pride in chariots, and others in horses, but we take pride in the name of the LORD our God. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
